High Houses is a very special place to hold your wedding. This is a totally unique and unusual location in a private house with tons of atmosphere, which lends itself to a very romantic venue.

High Houses provides a place for a more relaxed, modern and different type of wedding. The house is situated on a fellside in the Northern Fells of the English Lake District with wonderful views and totally surrounded by farmland - very Wuthering Heights.

The wedding receptions are held in a marquee in an adjoining field and the house is provided for the wedding party to stay in before the big day and after the wedding for your honeymoon, if required.

All the wedding organisation is done by Jill, who owns the property. The whole day has a relaxed, fun atmosphere but with a very high standard of service. There are exquisite, artistic and tasteful flowers, delicious and stunning food, great music, all lit by candlelight in a magical place which all creates a wonderful great day.

The catering for the wedding can range from a small wedding breakfast for 30, to a sit down dinner for 120, to a barbequed pig roast in the evening with the setting sun over the Solway Firth as a backdrop.

Flowers, wedding cakes, photography, music, bar, exclusive wedding champagne, wedding cars, etc, can all be arranged for you. We can even provide an enchanting horse drawn trap from the nearby church to High Houses over the fell.

The weddings that have been held here have been for up to 120 people, with accommodation provided for guests in nearby hotels and guest houses.

As the wedding receptions are held in a marquee, and so as not to run the risk of a "blown away tent", we are only available for weddings from 1st May to 30th September, however smaller weddings can be held within the house.
